What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

OJS 2.3.4: login/logout bug?

Postby fonzman » Mon Aug 08, 2011 7:25 am

I am running an installation of OJS 2.3.4 and encountered a strange bug.

After a user logs in, there are certain pages where the logout-button does not work!
If the user visits 'home', 'about', 'search' and probably other pages, logout simply returns him to the page he was currently viewing, but he remains logged in. If the user visits his 'user home' and clicks logout, the logout works - most of the time (but not always!). I even encountered situations, where the user is shown logged out on some pages ('search' for example) but remains shown as logged in on other pages! This usually results in a non-working environement, which is only solved by deleting the browser-cache or closing/reopening the browser.

Tested in Firefox 5.0 and Internet Explorer 9.0 (with and without compatibility-mode). So it seems browser-independent.

Do you have any ideas about this, or is it already marked as a bug?

Hi fonzman,

My apologies for the extreme delay in responding -- your post was trapped in a moderation queue we don't generally use.

Can you clarify whether this is still an issue? If so, it sounds to me like it may be related to APC; if your server uses APC, have a look at http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8151.
