Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

OAI PMH compliance

Postby mel » Sun Oct 20, 2013 5:43 am

Hi,
We just published our first issue. I am not at all technical. OJS was installed on the college server by the technical service provider.

I requested indexing/inclusion in the Bielefeld Academic Search Engine, which required that I verify my site http://ger.mercy.edu for compliance by the OVAL Base OAI-PMH Validator, which resulted in an error message.

Does anyone have experience with that validator? How would I know if the error is in my installation or the OVAL Base OAI-PMH Validator?

Thank you,
mel

Hi Mel,

What are you using for the OAI base URL?

Hi Mel,

That isn't a valid OAI URL; look on Journal Setup, step 3, for the journal's OAI base URL.

Hi Alec,

Thank you. I followed your instructions and everything checked out fine.

The OVAL checker made one recommendation that I don't understand. Is it something to be concerned about?

Harvesting
RECOMMENDATION: Deleting strategy is "no" – recommended is persistent or transient.
(Explanation of) RECOMMENDATION: Deprecated protocol feature or content-related issue

Thank you,
mel

Hi mel,

No, that's nothing to worry about. It's just a note about our current implementation of OAI-PMH.
