What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

'pkp.sfu.ca/harvester/add.php' does not work

Postby TSammy » Fri Aug 30, 2013 7:09 pm

As described in 'Site Settings', below, I am trying to register my site for indexing.

Click here and enter http://prunz.org/ojs/index.php?journal=index&page=index under Site URL, and http://prunz.org/ojs/index.php?journal=index&page=oai under Base URL for OAI Archive.[/i]

However, 'Click here' directs me to a link (http://pkp.sfu.ca/harvester/add.php) that does not function, it says page not found, so I can't register anything, please advice.

Thank you in advance,
TSammy

Hi TSammy,

Our own public harvester has been decommissioned; do you intend to run your own harvester, or are you just looking for places to promote your journal?

Thank you Alec.

Actually, all I want is to make basic (OAI) indexing (promoting with your verbiage) for both my site and journal(s). I know there is likely no limit in terms of actions that can be taken in this respect, but again, what I'm trying to apply is primarily what OJS describes here, in particular of the site, as well as the journal(s). However, I can't do this for the site (as the subject of this email), as a matter of fact, I can't do this for the journal either. (Please refer to the P.S., for the latter.)

I thought basic indexing is a part of the OJS initiation anyway, since without its presence everything is pretty much moot. (Don't get me wrong, I think OJS is a great value by all means, and generally speaking, I think it functions very smoothly, except the indexing features, as well as JustBoil.me.) Is there anything else that I can try?

P.S.
I'm having my OAI link from the Setup 3.5, it's http://prunz.org/ojs/index.php?journal=bube&page=oai. However, when I try to validate with http://www.openarchives.org/data/regist ... vider.html, it gives me FAIL (*), honnestly, I don't even know what to change. Please advise, many thanks in advance.

(*) [FAIL] Server at base URL 'http://prunz.org/ojs/index.php?journal=bube&page=oai' failed to respond to Identify. The HTTP GET request with URL http://prunz.org/ojs/index.php?journal= ... b=Identify received response code '404'.

Hi TSammy,

I've described in another response why you're receiving an error message. FYI, you might want to look for a document written by someone on our team -- it's called "Getting Found, Staying Found."
