Are you an Editor, Author, or Journal Manager in need of help? Want to talk to us about workflow issues? This is your forum.

Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Institutional subscription with a gap in coverage

Postby aldrichmoodie » Fri May 24, 2013 12:51 pm

I have an institutional subscriber (via IP address) who subscribed for year 1, chose not to subscribe for year 2, and now is subscribing for year 3. How can I give them access to years 1 and 3 without access to year 2?

Many thanks,

Hi Sarah,

The OJS subscription system is designed to grant subscribers access to all content if they have a current/valid subscription.

However, you can modify OJS to suit your specific needs -- please see the following thread which includes code customization that may be helpful.

You would need to modify your installation of OJS as described (based on your version of OJS) and then include two separate institutional records for this subscriber, one that spans the publication dates of year 1 content, and a second record that spans the publication dates of year 3 content (for the subscription start and end dates).
