Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Show Supplementary files Title for Reviewers

Hello to everyone,
first let me say great job everyone.

We use supplementary files as repository for additional files, tables, figures, ... to an article. These can be rather large due to high resolution images, ... so they cannot be part of article(we need them for printed version). My problem is that I want reviewers to be able to see Title of supplementary files as OJS changes the filename and reviewers have great difficulty to know which picture is in the article while filename is altered and Title is not showing.

Is there simple solution to this request?

Thank you and keep on good work,

As far as I know, there isn't a way to prevent OJS from renaming the file that are uploaded. The title of the file is included in the metadata and the title entered is retained there. However, as far as I know the only option for presenting supplementary files to reviewers is to do so WITHOUT access to the metadata. The only solution I can think of would be to include whatever information is necessary in the actual file itself.

All best,

Hi strup,

If you're publishing HTML articles, note that you can include links to your supplementary files using URLs like "ojs://a/b" where "a" is the ID of the article and "b" is the ID of the supplementary files (seen in their respective URLs).
