Notification E-Mail

Postby metricgravity » Wed Feb 13, 2013 5:33 am

Hi.

I am using Version 2.3.6 of Open Journal Systems. The chief editor of my journal wishes to change the wording of the automated notification e-mail message which is sent to an author when he submits a paper.

I could not find a template for the notification e-mail message on the journal site. I did find a message similar to the notification e-mail in the file ojs/locale/en_US/emailTemplates.xml. However, it was not identical to the automated message which is sent out. As an experiment, I tried modifying this message, but that had no effect.

In the UNIX system containing the journal server, I used the 'grep' command to search for words appearing in the automated e-mail. But I was unable to find the message.

I was wondering if someone can please tell me how to modify the automated message.

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards,

Hi metricgravity,

When a journal is created, email templates are installed from locale/xx_XX/emailTemplates.xml into the database. After that, they can be modified in the database via the Journal Manager's "Prepared Emails" interface.

Hi, Alec.

Thank you for your reply. I did try to find the automated notification under prepared e-mails, but I did not see it. I tried to explain this in my previous message, but I realize I did not get this point across clearly.

I would appreciate any other suggestions.

Thank you.

Hi metricgravity,

Gotcha, but unless something really unusual is happening, the email will be there. Look for "Submission Ack".
