What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

disable_path_info question

Postby ramon » Fri Mar 16, 2007 3:04 pm

Alec,

Are there any security issues regarding the use of the disable_path_info = On in the config.inc.php.

I believe changing the urls to display the paths as get variables is more common, but I'm not sure if that represents a security risk.

The advantage of disabling the path_info is that mod_rewrite is (practically) unnecessary since I can create specific URLs for any journal and use Virtualhost configurations in Apache to handle the request.

By the way, is there anything else needed?

Hi Ramón,

No, there's no security risks in using OJS with disable_path_info on; I'm not sure what it buys you in terms of configuration, though -- you should be able to do the same things using VirtualHost directives regardless of whether or not disable_path_info is used.

Hello Guys,
I am a newbie and am not sure if I should be posting this question here.

I had problems installing the OJS with the disable_path_info = Off (I was getting a 'No input file specified')
So I turned it ON in the config.php file and was able to install the OJS.
Everything is working fine except that one of the page is still not going to the links and showing the same error ('No input file specified')
Links on this page is not working: Please Advice

Hi Eddy,

Those links are generated in when the journal is created, and thereafter you need to maintain them manually in Journal Setup (page 5).

Hi Alec,
Thanks for answering.
I am sorry not to make it clear, don't know all the technical terms.
I am talking about the links in the body text.
Couldn't attach an image to show you the problem. (Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.)

These links (in bold) are not working
Interested in submitting to this journal? We recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's section policies, as well as the Author Guidelines. Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step process.

Thank again.

Hi Eddy,

All of these can be edited in Journal Setup, step 5.

Hi Alec,
Thanks for replying.
Sorry to say but this cant be done through the journal setup Step 5.
I gather, that it is more to do with the absolute OR the relative paths.
Links from all the three pages, Information for Author, Reader, Librarian are not working.

Hi Eddy,

What do you see in Journal Setup section 5.7, under "For Authors"? If you hit the "HTML" button on that field, are you able to edit the HTML source to change the links?
