I found this as an old modification dated for a 2005 version and as a feature request for the feature, but does someone have had any experience with linking authors bio's and/or an author page to journal articles.
We'd love to display the authors information when users click on it, but there seems no intention in the system for making the author bio public? Ideas? Suggestions?

Check Step 5 - Layout of the journal's configuration.
There you can add the author bio link to the sidebar.
