Access with free subscription, Google search

Hello,

We have a an online journal with OJS. To see the content, the reader will need to register with some basic information but can access for free. However, we noticed that this prevents search engines such as Google to index the contents of the journal. We would like to maintain this registration (to advise our readers of different news and events) but would also like the content of the journal to be searchable by Google or other search engines, etc. Can this be done?

Hi Fr. Joseph,

As Journal Manager, if you go to Setup => Management you'll have two options available under "Additional Site and Article Access Restrictions". These are:

(1) Users must be registered and log in to view the journal site.
(2) Users must be registered and log in to view open access content.

If you select (2) instead of (1), users and search engines should be able to access the article metadata, e.g. title, authors, abstract, etc. but users will still need to login in order to access the full-text of articles.
