Problems with Multilang, OJS 2.3.7.0

Postby Garant » Mon Sep 17, 2012 3:57 am

Hi!
Having difficulties with multilang interface and submissions.
The OJS have been translated to Lithuanian language.
These main XML files were translated:
lib/pkp/locale/lt_LT/: admin, common, countries, currencies, grid, inslaller, manager, reader, submission, user
locale/lt_LT/: admin, author, currencies, default, editor, locale, manager
Several plug-ins
And also this line was inserted in registry/locales.xml:
Code: Select all
<locale key="lt_LT" name="Lithuanian" iso639-2b="ltu" iso639-3="ltu" />

Don't know if iso639-2b is right. Just copied it from example.
In the Home > User > Site Administration > Languages marked supported locales are English and Lithuanian.
The result is that only in Site Administration page the language switch box appears but nor in journal page.
What I'm doing wrong?
P.S. In the users manual Image there are special translated sections which could be turned on/ off (UI, submissions and forms). I don't see any.

Did you try to add the "language toggle" bar to display in the sidebar, from the journal setting, step 5?
For this, go to Journal Manager>setup>5. Look>5.6 Journal Layout. Here select the Language Toggle from the middle box and click on the right or left arrow to move it to the sidebar you want it to appear there .
Well, for me, this didn't work with a customized theme, but if you use the default theme it may appear.
Try it and tell if it works.

Hi!
Thank you for your reply!
Yes, I've added "language toggle bar" and I use red bar theme with added custom css. The template wasn't modified...

Hi Garant,

Can you post a screenshot of your Site Administrator's "Languages" form?

IF you need more information - please ask.
P.S. main layout template was edited in order to cut some top menu's buttons, but I don't think that it can somehow affect my problem.

Hi Garant,

First, is it possible that you've got your file permissions set wrong in the cache/ directory? If so, you may be seeing the effects of cached content that OJS is having trouble replacing (e.g. journal settings). Try deleting all .php files from cache/, try to set up your languages again, and see if the cache/ files are getting regenerated. (If so, then you're not seeing what I proposed above.)

Hi!
I have full permission mostly to all cache subdirectories except "HTML". It's not deletable.
I've erased old cache files. The new just have regenerated.
So there is now any effect. Or it probably could be with "HTML" dir?
Thank you!

Hi Garant,

What do you get from the following query in MySQL?
Code: Select all
SELECT * FROM site;

Hi, asmecher!
I get this:
Code: Select all
primary_locale    min_password_length    installed_locales    supported_locales    original_style_file_name
en_US    6    en_US:lt_LT    en_US:lt_LT    custom-ojs.css

And the following query?
Code: Select all
select * from journal_settings where setting_name like '%ocale%';

I ran this query:
Code: Select all
select * from journal_settings where setting_name like '%lt%';

and the output is:
journal_id locale setting_name setting_value setting_type
1 journalTheme redbar string
1 metaCitationOutputFilterId -1 int

So the "locale" colums are empty...

Hi Garant,

Actually, that's a different query from the one I had intended. Did you get any results for mine?
