What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

JBImages Plugin error

Postby ramon » Wed Aug 08, 2012 1:23 pm

Hello all,

I didn't know where to post this, so I post it here since it's the most read forum.

Has anyone encountered the infamous "Maximum space for upload directory exceeded." from JBimages plugin for TinyMCE?

This plugin only works on a server with PHP 5.3 and English only.

On other servers, with PHP 5.2, it doesn't work, outputting the infamous message above before the upload button is pressed.
There's enough space and permissions are correct, so we wonder if it's a PHP version issue.

Hello all,

Just downloaded 2.4.0 and upgraded a 2.2.4 (for testing purposes), and, although the language now seems to be working (not 100%, but close), still JBimages is not uploading files.

Note that the translation key "installer.installFilesDirError" is not displayed, although it is available in lib/pkp/locale/pt_BR...

Any pointers as to what the server setup needs to be, or further information on how my dev server is setup, please let me know.

Hi Ramón,

Can you test with your locale as english to see if that works? I tested this in Portuguese and it worked fine. If you want to debug it further, you can modify /lib/pkp/lib/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/jbimages/integratePKP.php and wherever it says die(__('installer.installFilesDirError'));, replace it with die('Line #XX' . __('installer.installFilesDirError')); (replace xx with the line number) so we can see where the script is failing.

Cheers,
Matt

Tested on 2.3.7 locally, backuped 2.3.8 copy - upload works. But it doesn't work in the main OJS copy...
Checked CHMOD on all OJS copies - the public folder have 0755 rights ?
Ned help to solve this.
update: but the plugin work in IE !!! Firefox fails...

Hi Garant,

I just tested the JBImages plugin on OJS 2.3.8, with the language set to italian (which it looks like you're using), and it worked fine. I think you're probably just running into a permissions problem. I suggest (temporarily) recursively setting your permissions for the public folder to 777 and seeing if the file will upload then. If that doesn't work, could you copy into this thread the contents of your lib/pkp/lib/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/jbimages/config.php file?

Cheers,
Matt

Hi!
Thank you for your reply!
I'm using Lithuanian, but JBImages isn't translated to this language.
I checked the permissions on both copies - so public is 0770, journals - 0755, 1 - 0755; site and images also have 0755 as it was by default after installation.
I'm attaching the config file.
And what is very strange, the main OJS installation works with IE

Hi Garant,

I don't see the file; Did you try to PM it to me?

So you're saying that JBImages is working in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox? What version of windows are you running?

Hi Garant,

Hmm, Everything seems to be working for me when I tested this out on windows (Firefox or IE, in multiple languages). Do you see any javascript errors when you use the plugin in Firefox (you may have to open/download Firebug to see javascript errors).

Hi!
I've established the connection between this error and cookies or another temporary data.
Using the private browsing option in Firefox solves the problem. So the system or plugin sends invalid cookies or something else which blocks the file upload.
