What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Missing Icons

Postby wonderpup » Tue Sep 02, 2008 11:33 pm

I've upgraded to 2.2, and I've just started implementing PayPal for individual article sales.

I've found I'm missing a few icons (fulltext_open_medium.gif as well as the open access and fontsize icons). When I have a look in the templates/icon directory, sure enough, they aren't there. I don't mind adding them in manually at all, I'm just puzzled as to their absence...

I'm also interested in any advice anyone can give me about setting up payment for individual articles - I have got paypal sandbox up and running, and donations are fine (as per the helpful documents!) but once I've paid for an article it just sends me back to the abstract. Am I missing something fundamental here? I'm sure I am. Its late.

Hi Anton,

Regarding your first question: if you've upgraded your system via the patch process, you may encounter issues with icons and other system-bundled images -- this is because the patch process handles changes made to text files, but doesn't handle changes to binary files -- ie., if an image location changes place (as it does very occasionally), the patch file won't upload the new images automatically. You'll have to do that yourself, unfortunately, but all images can be found in the latest tar file at http://pkp.sfu.ca/ojs_download.

Regarding the second question: when you are sent back to the abstract, do you then see a link to the PDF file from the abstract page?

I was see my OJS web site (version on the font Sizer plugin, I was see only "Make font size smaller Make font size default Make font size larger" not icons.

But icons in the folder contains all icons

Any suggestion for lost-missing font size icons?

Hi Solty,

I believe all general icons should now go to lib/pkp/templates/images/icons. Did you recently upgrade via the patch process? You may have to download the full package, unzip it, and re-upload the icons to that directory.

Hi James,
This is small problem!
No patch. Complete upgrade.
I was see all icons within the directory: lib/pkp/templates/images/icons
font_medium.gif and small.gif...

But front-end only without icon
Font Size
Make font size smaller Make font size default Make font size larger

Hi Sultan,

It's probably file permissions, I suspect. Check in your access log and you'll probably see requests for those icons with "403 Forbidden" response codes.
