Problem to edit Layout Galley

Postby wblandon » Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:54 am

Hi.

We recently updated version of OJS 2.3.4.0 to 2.3.7.0, the database is MySQL. For this latest version does not allow us to add or replace files of the "Layout- Edit a Layout Galley" section because the language field is empty and this is required. This happens in all Journals. In the previous version worked without problem. Attached is a picture of this problem.

Hi Walter,

As Journal Manager, check your Languages form to make sure you have available languages chosen for your submission language setting.

Hi Alec.

I checked language settings and it's OK.

When we add a new record, Spanish and English appears in language field, it's not empty.

Hi Walter,

Did the upgrade process complete successfully? The behavior you're seeing makes me think that it didn't. Do you have the output of that process handy? Did you see any error messages?

Hi Alec.

Unfortunately we have no record of the update but did not see problems in the process. I have no access to log files because we did a server migration and where it was originally formatted. Another suggestion?

Hi Walter,

The queries that did not get successfully executed during the upgrade are described in dbscripts/xml/upgrade/2.3.3_update.xml under the "Bug #5543: Implement multilingual specification" section. Keep in mind that this is just one part of the upgrade process that does not appear to have completed successfully and there will probably be others.

What is your recommendation? We update 2.3.7 version in April and we have already created many new records for the journals hosted on OJS.

Hi Walter,

My recommendation is to run the query I mentioned above -- here it is with a slight modification that will make it respect any new entries that have been added since:
Code: Select all
UPDATE articles a, journals j SET a.locale = j.primary_locale WHERE a.journal_id = j.journal_id AND (a.locale IS NULL OR a.locale = '');
I haven't tested this query, so please back up your database before you try it.

Hi Alec.

I followed your recommendation. I tried with the code line suggest you but no changes. Then I run queries of the bug #5543 and they changed some records:

Hi Walter,

Can you try clearing your data caches to ensure that the new journal settings have taken effect?

Hi Alec.

Yes, I upgraded with "Clear Data Caches". Also I tried "reload locale" language for OJS site and "reload default" language each journal, and upgrade "Clear Data Caches" again but didn't solve the problem.

Hi Walter,

Hmm... I'm having trouble duplicating this and I'm wondering if there is either a platform quirk or local modifications. Have you edited anything locally? What process did you follow to upgrade? What version of PHP are you running on the server?

Hi Alec.

Have you edited anything locally?
No, I don't edit OJS code.

What process did you follow to upgrade?
For upgrade OJS, I downloaded patch and I followed instructions of http://pkp.sfu.ca/ojs/UPGRADE

What version of PHP are you running on the server?
OS platform Linux
PHP version 5.3.10
Apache version Apache/2.2.22 (Fedora)
Database driver mysql
Database server version 5.5.22

Do we might return to the version that worked well and try a new upgrade?

Hi Walter,

Do you see any .rej files in your directory tree?
