Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

several Journals and Search

I have a question about the search tool.

If I am using 3 journals, does it take into account for the search the three journals or just one.
because in the advanced search in the navigation bar there is an option to search in all journals or in a specific one.

what about in the search tool that appears on the right side? does it take them all or just one?
is it possible to set it up so that I can choose just one journal to be taken for the search?

Hello David,

OxS search (for OCS and OJS) works according to context.
When viewing a journal, the search will occur within that journal.
If you are in the portal/site view, then the search will/should occur in all journals.
Remember that for full-text PDF search the published articles need to be indexed by a pdf-to-text tool, external to OJS and depends on server setup.
The same happens for any other format except HTML, which is automatically added to the database.
