OJS Plugin::Popular Articles Block Plugin

Hi all,

Just to inform that I've done a full package upgrade from 2.2.3 to 2.3.6, then I via browser installed the mostPopularBlockPlugin version 0.9.0.1 and it is working good.

I just had to rename some locale keys and the old plugin tables in database. Thanks RoboMod for the update.

SUMMARY

UPDATE: I can see this plugin on the right side of my screen now, but only when I am in Journal Management > Plugin Management.

I encountered the same problem after an upgrade from OJS 2.2.0 to 2.3.6, and I believe all of the issues mentioned since the 0.9.0.1 version are the same problem. When I extracted the archive, the folder name was 'popularArticlesPlugin'. This needs to be renamed to match the 'application' element in the version.xml file (i.e., 'popularArticles').

Correct folder name:
plugins/block/popularArticles

Note also (in case you are looking for the settings in the plugin_settings table) that the plugin_name for previous versions was 'mostpopulararticlesblockplugin', and the new plugin settings are under 'populararticlesblockplugin'.

Thank you for your post ctparker. I changed the directory name from popularArticlesPlugin to popularArticles as you suggested. Unfortunately the same problem still remains - I can only see the plugin when I am in the Journal Manager screens that pertain to plugins (the plugin screen and Step 5 of Setup). One small difference between your instructions and what I found is that you cal the block directory "block" but it appears as "blocks" for my system. I doubt that's the problem though because the other plugins in that directory work fine. Any other advice?

This plugin works well. However, it only returns the number of Abstract views. Is there any way to report all the article views (HTML+PDF+Abstract)?

Any idea what could be preventing normal block display ? Using 2.3.7, main language is FR, with EN version available.

Hi,
I was upgrade to 2.3.7 OJS.
There is a problem with /httpdocs/plugins/blocks/popularArticles plugin.

The information about views are visible only when I am registered as a Journal Manager in the Step 5 in Setup.
I use the 2.3.7.0 version of OJS.

I was read all discussion about this problem. But no solution.
Could you help me to solve this problem?
I would very appreciate.

Hi Again,
I think that there is interesting problem with Popular articles plugin and OJS 2.3.7.0 version.
This plugin is very important for me and other editors, and readers. Today I was see that this topic viewed: 9298!
May be, OJS team find a solution for this plugin problem.

I was see another problem and may be source of the problem.
Like as other blocks plugin, there is no any plugin properties below the name, upgrade plugin and delete plugin.

The plugin works with OJS 2.3.7, but the system doesn't load it automatically -- you can run this SQL on your database to get it working:

but we have error message during the apply and also I was see "Populer articles" on the only "Setup" pages not main journal page.

Hi solty,

Try just entering the first SQL statement (INSERT INTO versions...), if the latter already exists it doesn't need to be added (and remove it if the database allowed you to add it a second time).

we are using ojs-2.3.4 had installed this plugin and it was working well.but then our authors complained that whenever they click on any article from any issue either current or archive only one article is opened which is the last article in top 10... pls test it... Thanks in advance
