Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OCS:1.
Search the forum. You can do this from the
Advanced Search Page or from our
Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we
especially recommend searching the forum for said error.
2.
Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved. Please note that this FAQ is OJS-centric, but most issues are applicable to both platforms.
3.
Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the
OCS Conference Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the
OCS Development subforum.

Hi
When we use the Files Browser feature in OCS – is there a way to make the files available publicly - that is without the user having to log in/register to see what’s available? Currently the files are not available to the public but our users would like to be able to use this function to post manual registration forms and other pre registration information.
If this is not currently available is there any way that it could be added in future versions as it would be very useful? Thanks.
Simon

Hi Simon,
There is a plugin for OJS at
http://pkp.sfu.ca/support/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5947&f=28 that would be possible to port to OCS. Alternatively, some users have reported success by providing a symbolic link from the files path into the public files directory and accessing it via the built-in Files Browser. However, longer-term, we're eventually going to remove the public files directory entirely. It's generally dangerous to allow arbitrary uploads into web-accessible locations (think e.g. of someone gaining access to your managerial account and uploading PHP scripts that can be executed server-side).
