Hello,
I would like to modify the email template PROOFREAD_AUTHOR_REQUEST in such a way that it would include the date by which the author is supposed to complete the proofreading and return the comments. Is it possible to set a deadline for the author to return the proofs? Is there anything similar to $reviewDueDate available for proofreading, too?

There isn't anything similar to $reviewDueDate available for proofreading. You might think about editing the PROOFREAD_AUTHOR_REQUEST prepared email, though, to add a generic deadline (something like "Please return the proofread manuscript within two weeks."). Otherwise you'll have to add the specific deadline to the email each time you send it out to the authors.
