What to do if you have a technical problem with OCS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved. Please note that this FAQ is OJS-centric, but most issues are applicable to both platforms.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OCS Conference Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

How to increase the max file size for uploading?

Postby balkan » Sat Jan 28, 2012 5:44 pm

Hi,
We are running conference with two phase: 1.abstract, 2.full paper after acceptance of the abstracts.
Some of the authors have problem with uploading their Full papers because they are too big size.
We would like to increase the max file size of uploaded papers.
How can we do it ????

Thanks,
Olivija

Hi Olivija,

the maximum upload size is set in your server's php.ini file:

Code: Select all
; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 32M

You can set it whatever you think is a reasonable limit. You will need to restart your web server after making this change.

Hi Jason,

I have checked the php.ini file on our server and it is written : upload_max_filesize = 20M
but we can not upload file bigger than 2M, I am wandering if it is limited somewhere in the OCS cod ?

Thanks a lot

Hi balkan,

Can you check to make sure that the php.ini setting for maximum upload size does not have a semi-colon in front of it? If it does, that would mean that it is commented out. Also, you can confirm the setting by creating a single PHP file in a web accessible directory and put the following in it:

Code: Select all
<?php phpinfo(); ?>

When you load that file, you will get a list of all of your PHP configuration directives. Just remember to delete the file once you are finished with it.

Another directive that must be set is the post_max_size directive. That setting controls how much data can be sent to your server in one request. If it is less than your file upload size, you will also have problems. It should be larger.

Regards,

Jason
