I am creating a small demo issue of a new journal and I have all the files prepared in HTML, some of which are graphic-heavy, with images as jpegs hyperlinked to the main file.
I have created an Author account for myself so I can use the "shotgun" approach of importing the files straight through to the issue bypassing all the editorial processes.
Upon viewing the issue, none of the graphics display because (as I have realised now) the supplementary files are renamed upon import.
I imagine there is no way around this and I assume I will have to reedit the HTML code and re-import that file?

Actually, OJS automatically rewrites HTML galleys to use renamed image files. Don't use supplementary files for these; you should be able to edit each HTML galley and add the images there (either as Editor or as Layout Editor). You can do this from the submission's Editing page under Layout. As long as the names of the images you upload there match the names referenced in the HTML (e.g. cases should agree) the images will work.
