Hi,
when sending out emails from within the system, text that I type (i.e. it does not come from a template) has some broken characters in it, for example
Editor’s summary of the reviewer’s comments:
arrives as
Editor’s summary of the reviewer’s comments:
in the recipient's mailbox.
It is typed and displayed correctly in the system and when checking the email-record in the journal system this is correct too.
The same problem applies to the reviewer reports which I import into the email to send to the author.
Any ideas? The system is set to UTF-8.
Regards,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,
Are you reading these messages via a webmail interface? Sometimes webmail systems don't handle UTF-8 properly; likewise, if you're using an older or non-compliant email client, you might have similar problems.

Hi Alec,
no, I am using Outlook 2003, and I have had email before that display e.g. Farsi characters correctly. I don't think the problem is on the receiving end.

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,
Could you send an email containing some of these characters to
pkp-support@sfu.ca (CCing yourself to verify that they're coming through incorrectly)?

Hi Alec,
I just sent it to you, and the CC to me was wrong again, e.g.
"today’s reality" instead of "today’s reality"
Regards
Sebastian
