plugin for exporting articles in XML to RepEC

Does OJS have a plugin for exporting articles in XML to RepEC?

So far we have been manually entering metadata and uploading the full-text link (to index our journal issues). We would like to automate this process.

Hi Marilee,

The default OJS package itself doesn't include a RepEC export plugin, and I'm not personally aware of anyone who has developed such a plugin externally. If you can give me some details as to what RepEC expects in terms of XML and/or files, I can give you some information on how to go about developing such a plugin.

RePEc offers minimal information/expectation about XML. I found one script that might be helpful to this discussion? Please see http://ideas.repec.org/c/rpc/script/aer.html which talks about a perl program that grabs XML data and generates the ReDIF data used in RePEc. It was developed back in 2001 though. This version is adapted for the XML data contributed by the American Economic Review (not an OA journal).

Does that provide any guidance on deciding how we could develop a plug-in?

Hi Marilee,

Unfortunately, that perl script probably isn't a great starting point, especially as it is a single-instance use case rather than a more generic generation script. I did take a look at RePEc's FAQs though, and found a tutorial on how to provide information to them via RDF ("Resource Description Framework: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... _Framework): see http://ideas.repec.org/stepbystep.html. You could almost certainly write a plugin to provide the information RePEc needs, but you would need some development experience on your team; I don't think it would necessarily be as easy as modifying any of the currently existing plugins.

However, it does appear that the RePEc team writes and maintains scripts (including the one you point to); it may be worth asking them if they have thought of writing a script or plugin to work with OJS.
