Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Article Titles - alternate language

Postby uaxMichael » Wed Jun 01, 2011 3:09 pm

Hi All,

We have english and french titles for our articles. How would I mark it up in our XML file? So far we've only had to deal with english titles and the markup is was follows:

Code: Select all
<article>
  <title locale="en_US">CJUCE Online: Fulfilling One of its Major Purposes</title>
...

I was wondering what the most elegant way of presenting both language titles in OJS would be. The following way seems do-able but probably not ideal:

Code: Select all
<article>
  <title locale="en_US">CJUCE Online: Fulfilling One of its Major Purposes <br /> RCÉPU en ligne: Réaliser l’un de ses objectifs d’importance</title>
...

Would you have any tips?

Hi uaxMichael,

You can add multiple title elements, as described similarly for authors here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7556#p29196. Note that for each title element you add, you should properly define the title local, like so:

<title locale="en_US">title in english</title>
<title locale="fr_CA">titre en francais</title>

Cheers,
James
