What to do if you have a technical problem with OCS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved. Please note that this FAQ is OJS-centric, but most issues are applicable to both platforms.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OCS Conference Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

Export by Role -> empty xml

Postby tantalocura » Fri Apr 15, 2011 12:15 pm

Hi !
Using the User-import-export-plugin (ocs 2.3.3.1) and selecting Export by Role (any role) it results in a empty xml. Export all works fine.
I found a previous and topic in the forum but can't find any answer ¿?
I solve partially this need with a SQL query in the database, but for director management, I like a better and clean operation
Thanks.
Regards.
Luis.

Hi Luis,

Could you point me to the thread you are referring to? I can't seem to replicate this. How empty is empty -- are there beginning/ending tags but no user information, or is the file completely empty? Also, have you checked your server's error logs for any possible errors being reported?

Cheers,
James

Hi James :
- this is the topic http://pkp.sfu.ca/support/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5905
- as I say:
Users XML Plugin
>> Export by Role
results in a users.xml file with this 3 lines
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE users PUBLIC "-//PKP/OCS Users XML//EN" "http://pkp.sfu.ca/ocs/dtds/users.dtd">
<users/>

and that's all. Any user information. Now I see the wrong beginning tag with the slash... ¿?
>> Exporting all, works fine (all beginning/ending tags, and obviously users data in between...)
I've just checked and cannot see any errors in the server log...
Cheers, Luis

Hi Luis,

Strange, I can't replicate this at all. Is there any chance that you're trying to export a role that doesn't actually include users registered for that particular scheduled conference?

Cheers,
James

Hi James,
There is no chance.
We have ~350 users and almost 300 abstracts submitted for the shceduled conference. And, as I tell before, "Export All" works fine.
But I can't see any
Code: Select all
<role type="..." />
in the user info of this full users.xml file exported...¿? Cheers, Luis.
