Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Help needed: problems after upgrade-RESOLVED

Postby snermin » Wed Jul 14, 2010 1:27 pm

Hello,

Our Journal site has been doing well for more than a year. I decided to make an upgrade to 2.3.1.-2. using the full package method. Well it did not go as smooth as it used to in the last upgrade(s) and it ended up with Internal Server Error 500. I repeated the upgrade process with the error logging line added to index.php, however without log of a particular error sent back to browser.
I changed Installed parameter to "On" and apparently everything works well except article that have cover images attached to. When I click on the article link that does not have cover image article attached, everything works OK.
However, when I click on a link to article that has cover image, I get a blank page. With error logging on OJS reports the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method PublishedArticle::getLocalizedHideCoverPageAbstract() in /hsphere/local/home/ukctz1/saliniana.com.ba/pages/article/ArticleHandler.inc.php on line 232

You may see the the TOC on http://saliniana.com.ba/index.php?journal=ams&page=issue&op=view&path[]=4&path[]=showToc
and try to reproduce the error. Please, does anyone have any suggestion how to solve this issue. I do have the backup, but I don't have much experience in restoring the SQL databases and would prefer to correct this single problem, since everything else apparently works great.

At the end I would like to thank to the people behind this project since it facilitates the spread of the scientific knowledge.

RESOLVED.

I deleted the call to the problematic procedure - we always include abstract in the article.
Everything works fine now.

Hi snermin

I have the same problem with my OJS installation. Can you tell me exactly what code line (and where) you deleted?...

Thanks a lot!!

Hi all,

This is a known issue and has already been corrected in recent releases; see http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=5730 for a patch.
