Dear OJS developers,
I am looking forward to upgrading from OJS 2.2.4 to OJS 2.3.3. We pay for a server host for our journal, so every time we require command-prompt actions (e.g., upgrading versions) we have to pay them. Therefore I want us to upgrade to a problem-free version (or as close to a problem-free version as can exist) without having to also install a bunch of patches.
The current version available is 2.3.3-3. It has several recommended patches (listed at http://pkp.sfu.ca/wiki/index.php/OJS_2. ... ed_Patches). Will you be releasing 2.3.3-4 that is effectively the same as 2.3.3-3 but with fixes for all the patches so no patch installations are required? If so, do you have any idea about the timeline of its release?

Yes, our current plan is to follow up the current release (OJS 2.3.3-3) with a maintenance release that includes the recommended patches. (We'll probably call it 2.3.4.) We haven't scheduled that release but will do so in the next few weeks.
If you're in a hurry to upgrade, there's no harm in upgrading to 2.3.3-3 -- we'll be keeping the fixes that go into the maintenance release to a small, unobtrusive set, and if you need to apply a patch e.g. because one becomes available after you've upgraded, you can always download the files via FTP, apply the patch on your home machine, and then upload the modified files via FTP again.

I could be wrong, but I believe we are considering a 2.3.4 release of OJS in the first quarter of this year -- so hopefully by March.

Hello, Development Team,
I hope you could release 2.3.4 as early as possible.
After we upgraded 2.2.2 to 2.3.3-3, we suffer a slow speed and our editors are disappointed. I, as the publisher, are very nervous.
I hope the new version may solve our problems.
