Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Multiple Languages

Has any one looked into implementing OJS in several languages, that is to give the users the chance to select an interface language at the start of the web page and use that language for the rest of the session?

I am concerned about it since my Journal is set to serve in three languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese)

Cheers

A language toggle is a feature we added to the upcoming OJS 1.1.7 release, although it only changes the static interface text.

French language option

Postby marica » Mon Jun 14, 2004 8:47 pm

Hello,

So how do I "implement" the choice of language, for French if it exists?
Do I upgrade somehow to the new version, and do I have to do this for every new release, is there an auto notification?

Alternatively, how do I make up my own French version - can one or more section be added?

Thanks.
marica

OJS is currently only distributed with two languages: English and Portuguese.

I believe Spanish and French translations are also currently underway for inclusion in a future release of OJS. I would suggest contacting John Willinsky (john.willinsky@ubc.ca) if you would like more information regarding this or if you are interested in assisting with these or other translations.

As far as creating your own translations, see the section on "Language Support" in the docs/EXTRA file included with OJS.
