Reordering the archive: year, vol and number

Hi

We have been uploading back issues into OJS the hard way, e.g. not using the XML-import facilities but going through the Author – Editor/Review – Layout – Send article to Scheduling process.

The first journal working fine, because I was doing the job myself But then I laid out the job for two other journal to more people who chose not to put up the issues and volumes in the same order . The result:


2003
Vol 14, No 1 (2003)
Vol 14, No 2 (2003)
Vol 14, No 3 (2003)
Vol 14, No 4 (2003)


2004
Vol 15, No 4 (2004)
Vol 15, No 3 (2004)
Vol 15, No 2 (2004)
Vol 15, No 1 (2004)


And the other journal volumes from the same year don’t get listed together.

Can I somehow change the order of numbers and volumes and can I list volumes together years after an issue has been published in OJS?

Is there a reason why the archive isn’t ordered according to Year – Vol – Issue?

Glad to hear OJS is working for you!

Currently, the only way to re-order published issues (aside from deleting and re-publishing them) is via the database. In mysql, you can get a list of issues like this:

SELECT issue_id, year, volume, number, date_published, SUBSTR(title, 1, 20) FROM issues WHERE published = 1 ORDER BY year, volume, number;

The leftmost column is the issue ID; for each issue, use the following code to set the published dates to the proper values by hand: (The example sets the published date for issue ID 5 to January 25, 2004)

Code: Select all

UPDATE issues SET date_published = '2004-01-25' WHERE issue_id = 5;

This will correct the sorting order.
