OCS 2.3.1 Released

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OCS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OCS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OCS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

OCS 2.3.1 Released

The PKP Development Team is pleased to announce the release of OCS 2.3.1.

OCS 2.3.0 introduced a major rewrite of core aspects of PKP applications that reconciles common code (e.g. shared between OJS, OCS, and the Harvester) into a separate library called the PKP Web Application Library (WAL). Many parts of the system were been changed in a way that is transparent to users but that will vastly improve maintainability and the ease with which PKP can deploy fixes and new features across multiple applications.

OCS 2.3.1 builds upon this release with a number of bug fixes, user interface tune-ups, and minor refinements.

Will I eventually be able to update to this release from 2.3.0 through the administrative interface in "Home > User > Site Administration > System Information?"

I tried updating with that method and it doesn't seem to recognize that the update is available (it sees Latest version: (January 18, 2010)). I really would like to avoid a fresh install even though I am still in the beginning stages of development.

Hi BVBAccelerate,

The new version descriptor is online and should be reading 2.3.1 for the most recent release. However, upgrading will involve more than clicking through the administration interface -- full instructions are in docs/UPGRADE.
