Set Up - Customizing the Look - Changing title images

I am currently doing the set up for our new journal:

I loaded a placeholder graphic for the title image during initial setup and now I want to replace it with our real title image. Everytime I do this the old one comes back - even after deleting the exisiting picture.

I have replaced the header with HTML code in the meantime, but I'd really like to use the proper title image instead (which is approx. an 80x400 jpg).

Not sure if I need it, but I don't think I have direct access to our PHP code. I suppose I can get into our root directory, but I'm a little leary of changing code, as I'm quite new at this (but willing to learn). Is there a way I can do this without having to rely on our tech support?

It may be just that your browser has the old image cached. Try viewing the image and doing a force-reload in your browser (shift-reload, usually) to get the new one to appear.

Thanks Kevin, but I'm not that much of a newbie!

I use two computers and 3 different browsers. I've checked and double checked. My old image is "trapped" somewhere.

Hi Kevin,

I didn't see the image in the folder you said to look, so I manually uploaded (ijfull_title2.jpg) it and tried to place it in again, but it still did not work.

I'm trying to stick to conventions too by not using file names with more than 8 characters in a string.

One thing I did notice about the gifs in there is that 3 of them won't open in Photoshop: ojs_home_title_default.gif and ojs_title_default and one of the pkp ones -- perhaps they are corrupt and that is why they can't be replaced. What would happen if I delete the ones that won't open? Will the sky come falling down?

The other wierd thing is that the image that keeps appearing, my original ugly blue tester image, is still appearing after I attempt to load my new title image! I'm looking through all the folders to see if it is hiding somewhere, but it appears to be a phantom image. (It is called ijtitle.gif or ijtitle.jpg can't remember which one I used, as I was going to load both and make a visual comparison)

Well I must say this is fun though. I'm very new at poking around -- promise I won't touch anything without asking first though.

Any ideas??

If you upload a new title image, it will be uploaded (and renamed) to images/custom/ojs_home_title.gif or images/custom/ojs_title.gif. Since neither of those files exist on your server, I don't see how it's possible you could be still seeing the old image unless it's loading from cache.

I also have no problem viewing ojs_home_title_default.gif or ojs_title_default.gif on your server.

I found the fix, and updated my step5.php...

I´ll have to do it later in the other ones, though....

Hope that the portuguese 1.1.7 version will come soon....

I got your message with the dif. I´m not sure if we did everything. I´ll have to check when I get back from Belo Horizonte and check our version.

Maybe I´ll have it done by friday and email it to you.

Okay, thanks. There's just a few additions required to your localization file to bring it up to date.
