Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OCS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved. Please note that this FAQ is OJS-centric, but most issues are applicable to both platforms.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OCS Conference Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the quick reply and for getting me past my irrational fear of clearing caches. As you suggested, I used the data cache clear function and went through shell to delete the file you mentioned. Oddly, I do not see the tiny_mce_xxxxxxx.gz file in the cache/ directory. I did just note that I posted this in the OCS forum, and I'm having issues with OJS. After clearing the data cache in OJS, I did see the file cache/fc-pluginSettings-0-TinyMCEPlugin.php and nuked that for grins. Sadly, still no buttons in TinyMCE.

What baffles me about this is that I have full functionality of TinyMCE, just no images. I prefer it when things break all the way, not just mostly. :?

Best,
Dale

Hi Dale,

My fault--I think the .gz file should actually be located in your lib/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/ directory. The other file you deleted is for the OJS TinyMCE plugin, essentially the gateway that connects TinyMCE in your /lib directory to OJS. Try deleting this .gz file and we'll see if it gets fixed (also, for good measure, clear your browser's cache).

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,

I looked in the lib/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce directory, and do not see the tinymce .gz file. I even went a bit broader and looked for it anywhere in the OJS directory structure using:

find [path to OJS] -name ".gz" -type f -print

and came up empty. Not having the file present might well explain my issue, I suspect, but I'm not sure why it's missing if it's just a cache file that's auto-generated. Any thoughts on why that might be?

Dale

Hi Dale,

That is strange--Have you made any modifications to TinyMCE recently? It might be worth re-downloading OJS 2.2.2 and replacing the lib/tinymce/ directory in your current installation with that in the fresh download. Also, check your server logs to see if TinyMCE is throwing any errors when you view a TinyMCE enabled field.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,

After a long delay, I've been able to get back to this problem. As you suggested, I downloaded a fresh 2.2.2 tar and plucked the lib/tinymce out of it and overwrote that directory in my install. Still no dice. Oddly, I still do not see the .gz file, not even in the unpacked tar. Is this a file that is auto-generated, i.e.- not a file in the install package?

I've never modified TinyMCE, not even touched it until this issue arose. I'm working with our sysadmin to check the server logs, but am at a loss to explain the absence of the .gz filed mentioned in this thread.

Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

Best,
Dale

Nevermind, Matt. I butchered the first copy. Once it was done correctly, the buttons returned. Something must have gone awry in our last upgrade, but at any rate, we are now fine.

Hello PKPers,

I finally made the translation work in my "test" server.
Now I'll have to replicate the actions, which I'll list here, these may help those with lack of attention span, like me:
  1. Obviously, download correctly the language pack from Moxicode's TyniMCE > Download > Language Packs (I like FCK Editor better, but newer releases are not free anymore)
  2. Unpack the .zip package from the site at the root of ojs2/lib/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/
  3. Delete the tiny_mce_XXXXXX.tar.gz file from the above listed folder (mandatory!)
  4. As administrator, clear template and data cache (mandatory!)
This should enable TinyMCE language.
Let me know if I missed any steps so I can edit this post, if it is interesting...

Re: some TinyMCE questions

We have not had TinyMCE working since version 2.1 of OJS. We have upgraded several times and even tried copying a fresh TinyMCE directory over. We now have 2.3.3.3 and TinyMCE fields do not show up when we enable the plugin and check fields that should have TinYMCE there, instead they are regular text fields. I have tried re-installing and changing the settings but I can not seem to figure out how to get the fields to be TinyMCE editable. We have PHP 5.2.9 and MySQL 5.1.30. Everything else seems to be working fine but since I have maintained OJS there hasn't been tinymce working.

Any suggestions?

Hi Jerry,

There's recently been a TinyMCE/upgrade issue thread that includes a lot of potential solutions to this problem -- here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7001&start=0. Could you try the suggested solutions there (esp. the permissions-based ones) and let us know if you still aren't having any luck? Don't forget to state what you have already tried.

Cheers,
James

It appears that the solutions described in link above was:

a. permission changes
b. reverting back to old version when tinymce was working

I have verified our permission are ok. We have upgraded about 4 times with TinyMce not showing up at all. I am thinking it could be a server php setting like open_basedir being off. I am not getting any errors in the php logs so it is a little hard to detect but I am going to debug it further and see if I can find what is going on. I just didnt know if there was something quick I could try first.

Can anyone send me the 'view source' html of any page with TinyMce fields enabled so I can compare that to my HTML of the one not working?

This may help me see what is going wrong. Because with a raw html I should be able to determine if it is a server problem vs our specific db/installation problem.

This is what ours looks like:

Re: some TinyMCE questions

Postby JerryRice » Mon Jan 31, 2011 12:40 pm

My HTML posted there just made me realize the install version is incorrectly set (I assume) at 2.3.3.2 instead of 2.3.3.3 in the dbscripts/xml/upgrade.xml file of the OJS 2.3.3.3 download.

That is why my version in HTML is showing up as 2.3.3.2. I assume everyone who upgraded from a fresh install also has their in their HTML source. Not a bug, just a typo/forgot to change the install version text.

Hi Josh,

Yup -- that's already listed at http://pkp.sfu.ca/wiki/index.php/OJS_2.3.3-3_Recommended_Patches as bug #6133.

I also noticed there was some test files in lib/pkp/lib/tinymce/examples, so if I point my browser to http://library.queensu.ca/ojs/lib/pkp/l ... /full.html it does show tinymce up and working, so tinymce definitely can run in the ojs directory.

here is my plugins settings table for tinymce:

plugin_name journal_id setting_name setting_value setting_type locale
TinyMCEPlugin 0 enabled 1 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 10 enabled 0 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 11 enabled 1 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 12 enabled 1 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 13 enabled 1 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 7 enabled 1 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 14 enabled 1 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 15 enabled 1 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 16 enabled 1 bool
TinyMCEPlugin 2 enabled 1 bool

here is the versions table for tinymce:
major minor revision build date_installed current product_type product product_class_name lazy_load sitewide
1 0 0 0 2011-01-11 12:22:16 1 plugins.generic tinymce TinyMCEPlugin 1 0

I am going to try and switch sitewide from 0 to 1.. ya that didn't work.
