OA publisher re.press

I am just responding to a request to tell people about our OA monograph publishing projects and possible areas of participation.

I am a co-founder of a OA press called re.press (http://www.re-press.org). Actually not every book is OA. We mainly publish philosophy, which is all OA but we do also have a series that gives Authors the option of OA or not (and some have chosen 'not' and copyright has limited others). Basically re.press produces books in a physical form which are distributed to the trade via the international wholesale network and OA online via our website (see sample http://www.re-press.org/book-files/OA_V ... poulos.pdf).

I am keen to try out OMP to see how it can be used in our work flow. Technically my skills are fairly limited but I can trial software.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for detailing your situation with us: as we start work on OMP, users such as yourself will be a crucial part of the development process.

There currently isn't a code base for OMP to test yet, but we will announce the availability on the forums, and on our main web site. If you haven't seen our current materials on what we plan for OMP yet, you can see them at http://pkp.sfu.ca/omp.

You may also be interested in looking at Lemon8-XML (http://pkp.sfu.ca/lemon8). Lemon8-XML is a web-based application designed to make it easier for non-technical editors and authors to convert scholarly papers from typical word-processor editing formats such as MS-Word .DOC and OpenOffice .ODT, into XML-based publishing layout formats. The open beta has been released, and it will be worked into OMP (and eventually OxS) as well.
