Hi Paul,
Thanks for detailing your situation with us: as we start work on OMP, users such as yourself will be a crucial part of the development process.
There currently isn't a code base for OMP to test yet, but we will announce the availability on the forums, and on our main web site. If you haven't seen our current materials on what we plan for OMP yet, you can see them at
http://pkp.sfu.ca/omp.
You may also be interested in looking at Lemon8-XML (
http://pkp.sfu.ca/lemon8). Lemon8-XML is a web-based application designed to make it easier for non-technical editors and authors to convert scholarly papers from typical word-processor editing formats such as MS-Word .DOC and OpenOffice .ODT, into XML-based publishing layout formats. The open beta has been released, and it will be worked into OMP (and eventually OxS) as well.
If you have any questions or comments, please let us know.
Cheers,
James
