Harvesting timeout

Postby Harold » Mon Apr 07, 2008 1:11 am

There seems to be a default harvesting timeout of 60 seconds. We are interested in (temporarily) extending this. Is it possible to do so? Thanks.

Re: Harvesting timeout - clarification

Postby Harold » Mon Apr 07, 2008 8:31 am

Just to be clear, we are using command line harvesting, not the GUI.

In this case, we have a data provider which is slow to process requests. Harvest.php gives up after 60 seconds reporting 60 seconds elapsed, 0 records indexed. We can get the records in smaller chunks if we have to, using timestamps, but we'd like to try setting a longer timeout for harvest.php first, if possible...
Thanks

Anybody got any ideas? The timeout must be coming from somewhere...

Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Harold,

Are you getting a PHP timeout message? There's no timeout build into the Harvester, but there's often a maximum of 60 seconds in the PHP configuration. You may be able to turn off this timeout for the command-line PHP client, as there is sometimes a separate php.ini for the command-line client (so there is still a timeout used for the web client).
