Hi cffneto,

I'm not entirely sure what you want to accomplish: do you want the Author checkbox to be checked by default? I believe that the piece of code you are referring to (<input type="checkbox" name="registerAsReviewer" id="registerAsReviewer" value="1"{if $registerAsReviewer} checked="checked"{/if} />) will only check the box if the user is actively trying to register *as an author* -- that is, from a page that is only available to authors, ie. a submission page. If you want the checkbox to be checked by default, try removing the Smarty if statement. You'll have to keep track of that change, of course.

Cheers,
James
