REQ: text describing author email addr use

Authors attempting to submit articles are asking (via email) about the email address required field in the submission form. These days folks are wary of where their email addresses will appear. Although the reading tools do not present author email addrs, authors do not know this at submission time. It is reasonable that authors would conclude that their email address might be made public because it is collected during submission in the context of publicly available metadata items. This request is for explanatory text in the submission form explaining that author email addresses are not made public and are used only for administrators to communicate with the author about submission.

Good idea; however, it is possible for the author's email to be exposed to registered and logged-in readers by the Reading Tools if the option is enabled, so a generalized statement risks being inaccurate. I've created a Bugzilla entry at http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2510 that includes some details that might address your concerns.
