A facility exists for notifying users of the publication of new issues via email and rss feed. In the three types of journals we used to evaluate the OJS software this facility is not desirable and so I'd like to suggest that the appearance of the checkbox for this notification on the user's profile page be an option, configurable by the administrator. In the same context I'd also like to suggest that optional email and rss notification facilities be added to provide notification for each article added to the current issue. Of the three types of journals we used to evaluate the OJS software the one which could most appropriately use a notification facility is a peer reviewed continuously published journal with no print analog, that is, a purely online journal. In this case the journal issue abstraction is not particularly useful, and it makes sense to publish articles to the current issue as they become available rather than buffering them up for publication at one time. With this type of publication schedule notification of the appearance of a new article would be very useful.

Since the Notify Users feature allows for the entry of a free-form email, optionally including the Table of Contents, it should be suitable for notifying users of an additional article.

I second the request for article-level notification emails. While the current function can be used by manually pasting in the latest article information and abstract, an automated function would be nice.
