(Re)Sending account information

Postby piotreba » Wed Mar 05, 2014 8:43 am

Here is the situation:

Editor creates reviewer account before assigning him/her to the submission and sends request. It often appears the reviewer's email is invalid. Journal manager may update the email and then the editor resends request. But it is not possible to resend the email containing (in this case) reviewer account data (username and password). Of course request email contains information how to reset the password, but I think it would be more elegant that the journal manager or editor has an option to resend username and password to the updated (e.g.) reviewer email.

Hi piotreba,

Alternately, turn on one-click reviewer access; this will mean reviewers won't be required to know login credentials if they enter a submission via a link sent from the Editor as part of the workflow process. They can simply follow the link and perform the review without login.

OK Alec, this is partial solution, still reviewere may be not fully aware the Editor created account for him/her. From my experience, users have often problems with restoring access to their accounts when they have to login to the account, which was created for them by the Editor.

Hi piotreba,

A problem with re-sending the password is that OJS does not know what it is. We do not store passwords in clear text, or in a format that can be unencrypted.
