Fixed Footer!

Postby aadilsi » Sat Nov 23, 2013 10:31 pm

Hello,
We are customizing the look of our OJS.
We need a fixed footer. Is there a way to achieve this?
After an initial search I found that the "div footer" needs to be separate from the main "div container".
What file or what css do I need to make the changes in?
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
Both files (footer.tpl & footer.css) dont have codes about the position of the footer.
Thanks.

what about this?

Code: Select all
#footer {
141         width: 100%;
142         min-height: 50px;
143         position: relative;
144         clear: both;
145         background-color: #ABA;
146         text-align: center;
147 }
148
149 #footerContent {
150         width: 800px;
151         margin: 0 auto;
152 }

Hi, Thanks for the codes.
I am looking to pull the footer.div out of the container.div, and there are no codes to do that.
Have tried all relative and absolute position combinations, but in vain.
I need a fixed footer, one that can be displayed only at the bottom of the page irrespective of its content.
Thanks for the help.

I think that you need to have the footer div outside of the main container, if you want to make it fixed. Then you can apply some CSS magic like here: http://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/fixed-footer/.

You may try to rearrange divs in the core template that generates the page footer. It's here: /lib/pkp/templates/common/footer.tpl. I would suggest to move the footer generating code
Code: Select all
{if $pageFooter}
  <div class="footercontent">
  {$pageFooter}
  </div>
{/if}
{call_hook name="Templates::Common::Footer::PageFooter"}

AFTER the
Code: Select all
</div><!-- container -->

However, I did not try this, so I don't know if it breaks something. I would make the above change, reload any page of your OJS installation, view the source of the generated page, and then add the footer fixing rules to the appropriate class in the CSS file.

Regards,
Ales
