What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:
1. Search the forum
. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page
or from our Google Custom Search
, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend
searching the forum for said error.
2. Check the FAQ
to see if your question or error has already been resolved.
3. Post a question
, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion
subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development
We are currently considering the idea of having only 1 real OJS installation as a shared codebase, and let our other OJS installations just (symbolic) link to that. Of course, the writable directories (files, cache, public) and config.inc.php should be there for each installation, and each installation will have its own database. So, that would result in about 10 symbolic links per install to directories below /ojs2.
We think this could be a better solution than the multiple journal installation, especially when it comes to manipulations on the journal level, like backup and export.
Does anyone of you have experience in this direction?
May be there is already a thread about this? (I couldn't find it, although I thought i'd seen one a couple of years ago).

Send a PM to forum member mbria; he's been experimenting with that kind of setup for quite some time and I understand he's had some success. If the two of you can post your discussion here, so much the better, since I suspect there are other interested parties. Personally, I'd love to hear how it's been working for him over the medium term.
