What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Sorry for the question but... this means that there won't be any patch for upgrading from 2.3.8, and the only way is upgrading from full package?

I am asking because we made some modifications to the core files, and I think we could lose some of them... (our fault!).
In the "patch" method we can track if something is not patched by looking at the .rej files and manually applying the patch to modified files.

Thanks in advance!
Regards.

Hi Lorenzo,

Depending on the order of releases, the build process might not generate a patch for a particular combination of releases. I've just put a 2.3.8 to 2.4.2 patch online at http://pkp.sfu.ca/ojs_download.

Alec, thank you very much, your patch saves me!

After writing my message I realized that I probably could make the patch myself comparing the two full versions.... SORRY!

Best regards!

Hi Lorenzo,

Not a problem; good luck with the upgrade. Note that because binaries can't be represented in patch files, any binaries (typically images like .png files) that have been introduced or moved between the new versions will *not* be updated by the patch process.

Thanks Alec, upgrade has been performed without problems, but, as you noted, I missed some binary resources.
Thanks again for pointing this out! I have been able to add the missing images to our installation comparing the original installation of 2.4.2 with ours.

Best regards, and keep up the good work with OJS!!!
