Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Do we really want to urlencode() DOIs?

Every DOI contains a slash, separating the prefix (e.g. 10.2378) from the suffix (arbitrarily assigned by the publisher). The DOI pubID-plugin's getResolvingURL()-function uses urlencode() on all DOIs, resulting in string like this one:

Code: Select all
http://dx.doi.org/10.2378%2Fpeu2013.art11d

For links that doesn't matter, they'll certainly resolve that way. However, I'm also using this string for display and that just doesn't look right. It should be

Code: Select all
http://dx.doi.org/10.2378/peu2013.art11d

Is there any disadvantage to change the DOIPubIdPlugin.inc.php's line #240 into:
Code: Select all
      return 'http://dx.doi.org/'.$pubId;

Hi Kai,

I just encountered this issue myself and reported it: http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8190. Please feel free to CC yourself to that report for future updates. The developers should have a quick response.

Cheers,
James
