Hello,
I'm having an issue with my dual-languaje installation of OJS. I'm taking the following steps:
- Login as Editor
- Home > User > Journal Management > Journal Setup
- Select "English" as form languaje
- Change 1.2 "Principal Contact" text
- Save
This changes "Principal Contact" information to the text entered in English AND in Portuguese.
Now visitors see the the same updated text in both languajes, which is not desirable.
Question:
Can I have different versions of Principal Contact info for each languaje?
Some system info:
OJS 2.4.1.0 flawlessly upgraded from 2.3.6.0 via
/tools/upgrade.php patch then
/tools/upgrade.php upgrade in linux console
PHP 5.3.3
Apache 2.2.15
MySQL 5.1.61
Best regards,
Marcelo

Hi Marcelo,
As you've noticed, not all fields support multilingual content; the principal contact fields are currently single-language only. Changing that would require code modifications.

Wow, thanks a lot!
Is out there any listing of the "localizable" fields?

Hi Marcelo,
Not as such, but you can find out if a field supports multilingual content by toggling between languages. If the content changes (e.g. to blank if you haven't entered content in a second language) then it supports multilingual content.
Most of the long-form fields support multi-lingual content. We've attempted to ensure that the most important fields are multilingual where that makes sense.
