Wrong highlighting for 'Editor action required'

Postby HRiegler » Fri Feb 08, 2013 1:24 am

Dear support team,

we have recently upgraded our OJS from 2.2 to 4.1.

I noticed that grey and blue highlights in the list 'submissions in review' indicate the submissions which require action of the editor. However, the timing seems a bit off. Many submissions are highlighted as 'reviewer is overdue to complete review' although the detailed views of these submissions show that there are still one or two weeks until the respective review is due. Also the due date in the 'submissions in review' list itself is diplayed correctly like 'one more week to go' and still these submissions are highlighted as review overdue. I set the reviewing time to 4 weeks. I would not want to switch the highlighting off completely but in the current state it is misleading and quite confusing for the editors. Any suggestions how to fix this?

Best regards,

Hi Heike,

Apologies for not getting to you sooner. I have run into this problem as well; I am working up a fix, which should be available at http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8228 before too long. Please feel free to CC yourself to that bug report for future updates.

Just to know if some patch is available for this bug. I did not find any in http://pkp.sfu.ca/wiki/index.php/OJS_2. ... ed_Patches

Thank you.

Hi, I made some changes to classes/submission/sectionEditor/SectionEditorSubmission.inc.php that are working for me in terms of finally getting the highlighting in the "In Review" listing:

at line 485, add a new variable:
Code: Select all
$reviewDeadline = 60 * 60 * 24 * 21; // Three weeks

at line 484, change the overdueSeconds to be a single day
Code: Select all
 $overdueSeconds = 60 * 60 * 24 * 3; // instead of *14

at line 722, changed
Code: Select all
$dateNotified + $reviewDeadline < time() // max($dateReminded, $dateConfirmed) + $overdueSeconds < time()

The above says that the deadline for reviewers should be three weeks after being told to review (instead of working from when the reviewer was reminded or when the reviewer confirmed that they would do the review) --- we have a "fast turn-around" journal so we don't want to wait two weeks past a deadline to follow up with late reviewers). It also says that for other functions, being late should be triggered for 3 days, not two weeks.
