Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Upgrade issue

Hoping you can help me out!

I just did a full back up of my old site and tried installing 2.3.7 because I was using a really old version from 2009. The problem I'm having is that even thought I turned Installed to "Off", it won't update my database. I've copied over my old information from config.inc.php to the new config.inc.php file (e.g., base_url, database login info, etc.), but my site just loads a blank page when I try to update: http://alcesjournal.org/index.php/index/install (even just going to my root domain brings up this page).

I'm not super technical, but I had no problem installing and setting up the older OJS system. This upgrade has been a nightmare (thanks to my web host for nuking PhP 4 support, otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered upgrading because the old version worked perfectly for us).

Thanks in advance!

Hi alcesjournal,

The problem is almost certainly related to file permissions. There's a FAQ entry about permissions along with a number of threads in the forum.

Ugh, honestly I don't have the time to learn all this stuff.

Anyone with lots of knowledge of OJS willing to get us back up and running for a fee?

I made a full backup of our website and can grant admin privs to our MediaTemple account.
