What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:
1. Search the forum
. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page
or from our Google Custom Search
, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend
searching the forum for said error.
2. Check the FAQ
to see if your question or error has already been resolved.
3. Post a question
, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion
subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development
How do I get the OJS to run a scheduled task indexing full text articles?
If we run it ourselves on our server, it will index all our journals with all articles, new and old, and it should of course only run the new ones - the un-indexed.
I thought that OJS provided that automatically when you upload an article, but apparently it does not.
How do I solve that problem?

Hi Niels Erik,
My understanding is that OJS indexes articles when galleys are uploaded, so you shouldn't have to run the rebuild script to reindex. However, OJS only automatically indexes HTML galleys by default: to index PDF/PS/DOC, you have to configure the pdftotext/pstotext/etc. parameters in your config.inc.php. Once these parameters are set, you *will* have to run tools/rebuildSearchIndex.php to re-index anything that wasn't indexed previously; but after that, any PDF/PS/DOC file that's uploaded as a galley should be indexed automatically.
