What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Back Issues

Postby lawrence » Mon Dec 19, 2005 11:07 am

Hi there,
I want to add "back issues" to a testing journal, whenever I pick "back issue" during creating a new issue, it turns out I get "future issue".

Is there anything that I may have overlooked?

Hi Lawrence,

When you're creating issues, they'll always show up in "Future Issues" until they're published. If you'd like to import back issues, the Articles & Issues XML import is the recommended method. The process you're using is fine too, but once you're finished, you may have to do a few things manually in the database:
  • For each issue in the issues table, set the date_published field to the date the back-issue was published. (Otherwise the date published is set to the date when you pressed the "Publish Issue" button.)
  • Find the issue_id of your most current issue and execute the following:
    Code: Select all
    UPDATE issues SET current = 0;
    UPDATE issues SET current=1 WHERE issue_id = (use your current issue_id here);

Back Issue - Thank You

Postby lawrence » Mon Dec 19, 2005 11:51 am

Hi Alec,

Thank you for your supra fast reply.

We have decided to add the back issue 'by hand' instead of converting the existing journal XML your OJS XML.
