Is the partial expiry based on the article publishing date or the issue publishing date?

I'm afraid I don't quite follow: can you clarify what you are looking for, exactly? Generally speaking, access is set at the issue level, and can be refined on a per-article basis thereafter.

Hi James,

I was refering to the Partial expiry from Subscription Management > Subscription Policies > Subscription Expiry
The description for "Partial expiry" is "Readers are denied access to recently published subscription content, but retain access to subscription content published prior to the subscription expiry date."
I was wondering if the "content published prior to the .." is refering to the article publishing date or the issue publishing date?

Hi Gabriela,

Thanks for the clarification. I believe the article itself is checked first, and then the issue -- that is, if the article's publication date falls within the user's expired subscription, they will still have access; and failing that, if the issue's publication date falls within the expired subscription range, then they have access. See classes/issue/issueAction.inc.php, around line 127. From the relevant bug report (http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2253) this may need testing, and to be honest I haven't experimented yet; so if you find any issues, please let us know.

Hi James,
I'm testing the subscription access on a journal and the partial expiry option.

It seems to me that an user that has an expired subscription can not correctly access to the articles published when he was subscribed to the journal.

I solved the matter: I was accessing to imported articles, so the articles publication dates were in 2012 and not in 2010.

I'm using OJS 2.3.3; I hope that in future releases editors can modify the article publication date via the interface.
