What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Sending an e-mail when choosing reviewer(s) [RESOLVED]

Postby svillanueva » Thu Feb 21, 2008 3:15 am

Hello,

if i'm not mistaken, when a section editor or an editor selects a reviewer it's obligatory to send the email (or skip it, but at least to click the envelope icon) if not, the reviewer is not really assigned. Our Editors complained about that because no alert message is shown to do that, as they thought that picking up the reviewer was sufficient. Is there any way to make sure that the editor sends the email and, then, the reviewer is actually assigned??

Thanks a lot,

Sergi Villanueva.

Hi Sergi,

There isn't currently any alert-type function, and I agree that if the Editor doesn't necessarily know that they have to send the email to commit the review process it might be easy to overlook. At the moment the best course of action is to ensure that your editors know that they have to send the email out; but we may look at clarifying this workflow in the future.

Cheers,
James

Ok, it would be interesting to place in a more visible place and write a warning-sentence besides it.
