I can not send mails from a Smtp Server

Postby sciruela » Fri Jan 04, 2008 1:17 pm

Hi, I would like to use the University Smtp Server (Postfix) to send my e-Mails from OJS. I have installed OJS perfectly but I can not run send mail options. My configuration is below:

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Email Settings ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

[email]

; Use SMTP for sending mail instead of mail()
smtp = On

; SMTP server settings
smtp_server = "smtp.mydomain.com"
smtp_port = 25

; Enable SMTP authentication
; Supported mechanisms: PLAIN, LOGIN, CRAM-MD5, and DIGEST-MD5
smtp_auth = LOGIN
smtp_username = user
smtp_password = "password"

; Allow envelope sender to be specified
; (may not be possible with some server configurations)
; allow_envelope_sender = Off

; Enable attachments in the various "Send Email" pages.
; (Disabling here will not disable attachments on features that
; require them, e.g. attachment-based reviews)
enable_attachments = On

Is the config.inc.php file correct?
How I can resolve this problem?
Thanks for all.

Hi There,

This is happening probably because your SMTP server does not require authentication. Usually only POP server (to receive emails) requires authentication and SMTP (to send emails) doesn't.
