Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

We have had a request from another university for a generic logon to one of our journals that requires user registration for viewing of the full text article. Is there a way to do this? *NOTE* this is not 'subscription'.

Hi gabriellegardiner,

Would IP-based subscriptions work? This would allow you to specify an IP range that will be assumed to have a subscription. Most universities will have a single IP range for all their workstations.

I don't know, is this relevant to user registrations, or just to subscriptions? The journal in question does not require subscription, just registration for the full text article.

Hi gabriellegardiner,

In that case, it's easiest to create a single account for users from that university. There aren't any problems with e.g. concurrent logins by the same user. FYI, if you want to skip the login process entirely for users from that university by IP range, it's possible to do so by writing a fairly simple plugin.
