What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

OJS Mail not working

Postby okello » Mon Oct 08, 2007 5:39 am

Hallo All,

I've been using ojs 1.5 for sometime. Recently, I also installed ojs 2.1. But there seems to be a problem of mails: Whenever the editor registers a new user and chooses that a Welcome E-mail be sent to the person registered, the e-mail is not sent and no error is generated. The same happens with e-mail reviews; I specify the reviewer, attach the article and send the article but it's not sent despite the fact that no error is generated.

If someone can help me out, please. Thanks in advance.

Okello,

I would first try to check if the server is sending e-mail, using the mail command via shell.

Then, I would try to see if PHP is sending e-mail.

You would usually need an e-mail server installed (Postfix or Sendmail) in the server to process this, even if it is to redirect to an institutional e-mail server.

However, OJS 2 has the ability to use SMTP to send email. You can configure it to send e-mail through any server, as long as there's a login/password.

Check the configurations at ojs2/config.inc.php.
